Hi! I’m the grad student behind Balanced Academic.
I started grad school about a year ago, and to the say the least – it wasn’t what I expected. Over the past year I’ve had productive bursts and emotional crashes, exciting research wins and moments where I completely lost my footing. Grad school has been a whirlwind, and I’m still learning to navigate the intensity of academic life while trying to stay grounded.
If there is one thing this past year has taught me, it’s that I need balance. I won’t survive this place without it – and I refuse to spend the next few years in the same state of burnout and anxiety I felt in my first.
Balanced Academic is a space for busy students and academics like myself, who are tired of choosing between productivity and well-being. Here, I share realistic tools, reflections, and routines that help me navigate grad school without losing myself in the process.
On this blog you’ll find:
- Productivity strategies that don’t feed burnout
- Quick, nourishing recipes for hectic days
- Movement routines that support mental clarity
- Tools and resources to make academic life easier
- No-BS tips for finding real balance
- Honest reflections on life in academia
I created this blog because I wanted a space where hustle culture isn’t the default – and where we can redefine success in academia.
If this sounds like a space you’d like to spend your time, I’d love for you to stick around. You can subscribe to the newsletter (coming soon!) or reach out anytime at balancedacademicblog@gmail.com
